S Nail Polishes Post

Hey there! Look at me squeezing in a post on the first week!

I've mentioned it before,  but I'm in a polish group that on Mondays we go through the alphabet and everyone posts a mani with the letter of the week. The week was the letter S, so I of course had to go overboard again and use three different S polishes.

I started with a white base and then sponged on a gradient of Essie's Sunday Funday and China Glaze Sunshine Pop. The accent nail is Orly Starburst. I think I have an issue with circle glitter.  The issue is that I'm OBSESSED!!! Haha.

I really liked this. I was inspired by a post on Instagram by Sloteezy, but her gradient was much brighter, and more pink fading into the yellow. Since I didn't have any hot pink polishes that started with S, I had to go with the red / coral color that Sunday Funday is. She didn't do an accent nail,  but having all 5 fingers match really drives me crazy.

I thought that after a day of wearing this that it looked like candy corn, lol. So I will most likely revisit this look in the fall.  But it definitely was warmer and this girl needs some sunshine.  I think I'm turning translucent.

Day 20, Flowers for the February Challenge

Guess what?  It was so warm the past two days!  Like, when it broke 40 degrees,  I thought that I would break out the shorts, open the windows and get a tan. Ok, not really,  but it was close.

So just in time for the warmer weather,  today's prompt is flowers!  I picked up this beauty from Sally's the other day, when Orly was on sale.  Its a beautiful pale blue milky base with light blue micro glitter,  copper glitter and holographic glitter.  I knew I wanted to use this as the base, so I then put coral roses on top.

So this is Milky Way by Orly, and Live. Love. Carnival from OPI. Please forgive me for all the pictures,  but I was having too much fun and couldn't decide which ones to keep or toss. I was  ad though that I could barely capture the holo glitter.

Milky Way was a little difficult to use. The formula was really thick and gloopy. I had to add quite a bit of thinner to it before I could use it well. 

I'd love to hear you thoughts... I definitely feel so girly in this mani, ha!

Day 9, Hearts

Hello everyone!

I got the best compliment yesterday on my Olympic nails- Nail Art Magazine "hearted" my pics on Instagram! !!!! I about died. So, because I was really enjoying being in the Olympic mood, I wanted to keep those on for a bit longer and therefore I am behind in the #nailartfeb challenge.  No worries though!


The prompt for the 9th is hearts. Meh... I'm not a very mushy girl, so I'm not an "isn't this cute how much I love everything and everyone" displayer of affection. Hearts just aren't my thing. But, I wanted to give it the good ole try.

So, no one laugh. I tried to do the negative space look. Fail. Utter fail. I think I had too much polish on to try to remove it was a nightmare, and my heart was sloppy.  But by that time of night inwas over it. I'll reluctantly try it again.

Colors used here are my new Orly Pink Waterfall (which is so close to a radiant orchid shade that I got on clearance at Ulta!!!), Ciate Pepperminty, and Essie Licorice. I wanted a candy hearts look without doing candy hearts.  Does that make sense? Lol.

Thoughts? Not my favorite.  I was mad that I had to do these last night, because the Olympics were on, and we just recently dumped our cable and satellite television service. We're strictly streaming or using bunny ears to watch TV. our TV upstairs and in the kitchen are so old that we need to buy converter boxes or new TVs. So I was Olympic-less upstairs at my polish station. Boo.

And one last pic, my hubs completed my nail polish racks, so now I have room to grow! I'm only at about 240ish bottles,  which doesn't look like so many when on the wall! Need. More.  Polish. Ha.

Sunday Spew

What a lazy day it is today!  We are in the process of of getting our first decent snowstorm and so I ran out before it got icky. I was supposed to meet my dad for dinner to celebrate an early birthday for me, but this dang snow has shut down bridges and roadways.  I don't want my daddy out there in this!!!


I've got what I am affectionately calling a Sunday Spew today. When I wasnt feeling too much like I wanted to blog, I still took pictures of what I was doing to share.

First up are some fall looks that I did for November.  Have you checked out the blog, Chalkboard Nails? She came up with this distressed look that I wanted to try, but I wanted it to be more fallish. You do this look by scraping off almost all of the polish off of the brush, and then dry brush it onto the base color. I added a gold flakie, because every girl needs a little glitter in her life.

Next is what I did for Thanksgiving. I believe this is based off of a tutorial from Polish and Pearls. I just saw this on Pinterest and I needed something quick and easy to do.  Since im not a huge fan of a lot of white, I went to my good ole standby, My Vampire is Buff. Then just freehanded the feathers and turkey lurkey. I kind of like his wonky eye. Lol

Now I've got the polishes from a subscription box, the I.N.N. Box by Inzuri. This is an interesting subscription,  because there are 3 collections monthly and you select which one you want. You also receive a beauty product. It's $19.95 per month,  which ends up being around $25 with tax and shipping.

I received two China Glaze polishes, and one Orly.

First, the Orly. This is Masked Ceremony which is a dark charcoal with silver shimmer, magenta glitter and silver square glitter.  I liked this in the bottle, and I love the square glitter.  I hate how it looked on me. Definitely not a favorite. The formula was fine, I had no issues.  Maybe at a different time of year I would give this another shot.

Next, China Glaze Bizzare Blurple. I was really excited about this one, since I love purple polish. It was a great color. Great formula.  I used two coats for these pictures.

Finally is China Glaze Blue Bells Ring.  This was probably the one I was looking the least forward to because I use blues for accents,  not typically a solid nail color. When I saw the bottle,  it was really frosty looking, and I psh-shawed it immediately.  I'm kind of a spaz and I swatch out all of my polishes on a swatch wheel, by brand, number the wheel and then number the bottle. I apologize to China Glaze for dismissing this color. It's stunning. I was shocked when I swatched it. This could easily be a one-coater too. I used two though just to be safe.

And then the last for this post is a little gem I found at Walgreens the other day. I went in for some cough drops and I just had to swing past the polish. After digging around the tacky perfume value sets, I saw the perfumery display from Revlon. Not a fan of scented polish. Ive had a few in the past, but nothing special.  So just looking through this half-heartedly,  I almost screamed.  This is so close to Deborah Lippmann's Mermaid Dream, and I only paid $4.99 for it. The DL version retails for $19. And then it smells like mint? Extra bonus.  These are two coats of this little beauty.

Day 18, Half Moons

Greetings and happy Monday. Did you all have a good weekend?  Once again my football team won, and we're on a streak! Also celebrated Oktoberfest like a champ.

Remember the in your face neon pink from yesterday?  I wanted to use it for my half moon mani today.

I used paper hole protectors to mark off the moon shape, and then used Orly Fowl Play as the top color, which is a duo chrome purple with specks of glitter.

Super fun, right? Such an easy way to upgrade a normal look.

On a side note,  my local Ulta FINALLY got their fall collections in. (Stupid Midwest) I bought 3 Zoya's, an older China Glaze that I found hiding, and two clearanced random Ulta polishes. I had a few Pixie Dusts in my hand, and I ended up putting them back. I think I'm just over the whole textured polish thing.

The next couple of days will be toughies, so I'm relishing in this one for a bit.
