Springy Flowers

Did you all have a good weekend?  I was non-stop and I'm paying for it this morning.  A service organization I'm a member of had a work day and we dug holes for a retaining wall, scraped and painted a porch, removed debris and tons of yard waste all for an 80 year old woman that just couldn't do it anymore.  It waas so satisfying although I could only help for a few hours.  Worst part? The news station interviewed me. It was like my worst nightmare came to life.

Anyways,  I have a ome floral nails for you today.  I tend to gravitate towards purples and lavenders, so that's what I grabbed here. This is probably one of my top favorite polishes, OPI Do You Lilac It? and OPI My Vampire is Buff.  I just freehanded on some dots and stripes,  and topped with the flowers on two nails. It was really kind of boring and flat, so I added a topcoat of Essie's Pure Pearlfection to give it a light shimmer.

Sunday was great until about 4 pm hit. Then the skies opened up, the wind kicked up into overdrive and now it is supposed to rain for the next like 10 days. Good thing I snapped this while I still had some sunshine!

Have a great Monday!

Days 11 and 14 of the February Challenge

Sorry for the delay in posts, guys. I was loving my Olympic nails way too much to follow the Californails February challenge exactly.  Maybe I should have used pastel colors for the Olympic look?  ;)

So, because I suck and I want to get back on track, you get two posts today!

First is day 11, pastels. I think maybe the reasoning behind this was like a box of candy hearts,  because I don't really associate pastels with February. Regardless, here's the look I went with.

Hey, can I get some props here because this is my right or Cinderella hand? Lol, I pretty much liked it better than my left. Look at how good my middle finger came back from that massive break in December!

I used several pastel toned colors, and then stamped on top with Pueen plate #27. I topped it all off with a matte finish topcoat. In hindsight,  I should have used a different plate. The hearts that were solid look like a big smeary smush. I call these Laced up Easter Eggs. Lol

Ok, mani number 2. This one is for day 14, Match OOTD. So it's no secret,  I plan ahead, do my nails at night and then take pics in the morning.  Tonight I had to pick out what I'm wearing for tomorrow and hope that I still feel like it in the morning! I purchased this sweater last season at Old Navy, and I love it. I love mint, and love polka dots. Sweater full of win.

The mint here is from Essie's new Spring collection,  Fashion Playground. The grey is OPI'S Suzy Takes the Wheel.  I did the grey with mint dots on 3 of my nails, and the inside cuff look with the opposite colors. I like it, you can't go wrong with this color combination.  Simple, but that's ok because I'm tired of wearing Valentine's Day looks!! (Bonus, I looked up on Essie's website for more info on Fashion Playground and couldn't find anything... it's that new! Boom! We never get sneak peeks in Iowa!)

That's all chickies! Have a great weekend

Polka Dot Drops

Happy Tuesday chickadees. Today I have the second prompt for the February nail art challenge.  Polka Dots!!! I again wanted to do something in somewhat of a Valentines theme, but not overly so.

I used OPI Sweetheart for the pink, and OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls for the "white". The white has Essie's Pure Pearlfection on top to give it a touch of shimmer. Speckle on top a bunch of girly dots, and Ding! Polka spotted mani.

Know what these remind me of?  Those eyeball tests that you have to see the number in the dots.

That's all I've got. Unless you want to hear that we're getting more snow tomorrow.  Again. I'm never going to see the sun.

Enjoy the day!

Christmas Polka!

Sooo excited my chickadees! !! Today is the last day of work for me until after Christmas.  I need to do some major baking and shopping,  so looking forward to that!

I've got a little something different today.  Definitely more my style.

I've decided to call this midnight snow globe. Base is one coat of Essie Licorice, and then a slew of white dots. Go back over the dots with red and lime green, voila! Accent nailamajig is L'Oreal Sparkalicious. This is great beginner nail art.

Ah, glitter nail, how I have missed you.

I'm sure that I will have a few more Christmas manis before the holiday,  so stay tuned.

5 pm countdown is on!!!!

Day 25, Fa, Fa, Fa, Fa, Fashion!

I'm  not much of a fashion girl. I know what I like, and I try to put it together in a cute way, but I think because I'm not that super stick thin girl, I just can't get that look. (As I'm chomping on Starburst candy corn... don't judge me)

However,  I like to mix things up and put things together that normal people wouldn't necessarily do on a regular basis.  I am obsessed with colored pants. I love stripes and polka dots. Top it off with a bright color and that's the April style.

So, when seeing today's prompt was fashion, I looked up on Pinterest to see ideas I liked. I found this little picture:

So, polka dots? Check. Bright color? Check. Nerdy glasses and top knot? Check! This is totally me. So this is my interpretation of that style:

I did a base of Essie Blanc, and then swiped on a stripe of Zoya Darcy. Once that was dry, I took a nail art brush and mixed a lighter yellow color to free hand on the lace design that is on her sweater.

After that, I used my dotting tool and placed black polka dots on top of the white.

So, I also decided to match my nails for work. This is how it turned out. I wish I had that beautiful sweater, but I did have a dot shirt and yellow cardigan!

I had a luncheon that day, and my entire table asked me after the presentation about my nails. Gotta love nail groupies!  Ha!

So what's your fashion style?

11 days of nail art!

Today is day 11, and I was ahead of myself by one day. No longer. After having a totally crap-tastic day I went to the alehouse to drown my sorrows in craft beer. So no nail art last night for me. At least I had the one day cushion to still share with you all!!

As I mentioned on rainbow day, there's nothing happier than rainbows and polka dots.
I received Full Steam Ahead in my August Blackbox and hadn't had a chance to try it out yet. Its a light lilac creme with a subtle shimmer. It's really pretty. I then did half of the nail in white. The dark purple dots are my favorite polish of all time, No More Film and the lime ones are The More the Merrier.

It seems as though I am a total Essie girl. Here in the Midwest,  I don't have a lot of access to specialty stores or things like that. Our only Sephora is in JC Penneys. Ulta is getting tired of me because I have been in there once a week since July stalking to see where the fall Zoya collection is. I gave up a couple weeks ago. So I rely on Target to supply my Essie colors because I have their red card which means I get 5% off. So I deal. I want to get into indie colors so bad but haven't had much of an opportunity to research it yet. Anyways, what do you think of the dots? I got quite a few compliments on this one, so that's a win in my book.  :)

Have a great day
