Nautical Nails Featuring Jamberry Decals

Hey everyone!  Do you all have as much cabin fever as I do right now?  I'm about 2 days from going completely nutballs. I swear if I can't get outside and jog on the bike path soon I just might give up and have cake for breakfast,
lunch and dinner.

I've got a fun and unique look to share with you all today.  I was recently approached by a client that I plan events with, who is a Jamberry consultant. I've never been able to wear nail decals, because I have the hands of an 8 year old. Even the pinky decals wouldn't fit my thumb. Jill urged me to try these and I'm pretty impressed!  The two designs that she sent were small enough to fit my ring finger.  There is a slight visible edge on the nail, but nothing major. Application was easy, the instructions were simple. Prep the nail, and warm up the strip and place on the nail. Press it down, and then trim the edge. File the edge in a downward motion and then heat it back up using your hairdryer. Trim the little edges underneath and boom----polish.

This looks all pixilated up close, but from a far, it just looks like I was super awesome using striping tape! 

The strips were long enough that I was able to cut into 2 pieces,  so these would last a pretty long time and get more for your money. Actually,  with what I trimmed off, I could have gotten 3 uses per strip and used the trimmings as accents.

I loved this blue stripe piece, so I paired it with a nautical theme manicure.  I so love anything nautical,  so this hopefully gets me out of my winter funk. Do you like that yellow? It's from the new OPI Brazil collection.  Its I Just Can't Cope-acabana. I'm always on the hunt for golen yellow polishes for my Hawkeye manis in the fall.

Day 25, Fa, Fa, Fa, Fa, Fashion!

I'm  not much of a fashion girl. I know what I like, and I try to put it together in a cute way, but I think because I'm not that super stick thin girl, I just can't get that look. (As I'm chomping on Starburst candy corn... don't judge me)

However,  I like to mix things up and put things together that normal people wouldn't necessarily do on a regular basis.  I am obsessed with colored pants. I love stripes and polka dots. Top it off with a bright color and that's the April style.

So, when seeing today's prompt was fashion, I looked up on Pinterest to see ideas I liked. I found this little picture:

So, polka dots? Check. Bright color? Check. Nerdy glasses and top knot? Check! This is totally me. So this is my interpretation of that style:

I did a base of Essie Blanc, and then swiped on a stripe of Zoya Darcy. Once that was dry, I took a nail art brush and mixed a lighter yellow color to free hand on the lace design that is on her sweater. 

After that, I used my dotting tool and placed black polka dots on top of the white. 

So, I also decided to match my nails for work. This is how it turned out. I wish I had that beautiful sweater, but I did have a dot shirt and yellow cardigan! 

I had a luncheon that day, and my entire table asked me after the presentation about my nails. Gotta love nail groupies!  Ha!

Day 14, 31 Day Nail Polish Challenge- Flowers

Today is day 14, which is flowers. I like flowers, I used to have somewhat if a green thumb, but then I got waaaay too busy for that and all my flower beds became overgrown and died. I have a hard time with potted plants now too. Good thing the hubs likes to watch stuff grow. He's been taking care of our veggie garden the past two years and I get to eat all the delicious produce.

So since it's finally starting to feel like fall, I wanted to do a nice fall-y flower for today's challenge.  Sunflowers came to mind.

I sponged on two colors of blue, and let that dry. I then free hand painted on the sunflowers with acrylic paint.

I love the combo of blue / purple and yellow flowers. So fun, funky, fall. I can smell the burning leaves and pumpkin bars in the air.

It also reminds me of that terrible sunflower perfume that my mom always wore in the late 80's / early 90's. And you know what? I can smell it as I type this. Funny how smells invoke memories.

Well, that's all for today. I'm having a helluva time with tomorrow,  delicate print. I don't have very many stamping plates, so that's out. I only have freehand or other techniques to work with, and I'm just not getting the look I want. We'll see what gets actually posted tomorrow... maybe a fun picture of a cat or one of those Fry from Futureama memes. You'll just have to wait and see!!!
